Venture Hawks Face Sheriff's Eagles in Inclusion Basketball Game March 22
Ex-Adams County Sheriff Kimmy Rogers will coach the Venture Hawks against new Sheriff Kenny Dick's Eagles at West Union High School on March 22.

The Venture Hawks and the Adams County Sheriff's Eagles are set to renew their annual rivalry on Sunday, March 22, when the two teams tip off at 2 p.m. at West Union High School in a community inclusion basketball game tied to Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Doors open at 1 p.m. for what organizers describe as a friendly but competitive matchup. Ex-Adams County Sheriff Kimmy Rogers will coach the Venture Hawks, while new Adams County Sheriff Kenny Dick will lead the Eagles onto the court. The role reversal adds a fresh wrinkle to a rivalry that has built a loyal following in Adams County over the years.
The Hawks are organized by Venture Productions, a program and employer focused on people with developmental disabilities in Adams County. The annual game carries a clear message from organizers: "March is DD Awareness Month. Individuals with developmental disabilities want you to know that inclusion matters! Conscious inclusion fosters empowerment and community."
History favors the Hawks heading into Sunday. In a prior matchup covered by FOX19, the Hawks topped the Eagles 55-49. Further back, a 2017 preview by People's Defender writer Mark Carpenter recalled that "Dunking" Darrel Grooms poured in 48 points in a 70-53 Hawks win, noting that the Sheriff's Department "had no defense for Grooms." That event also drew Cincinnati Enquirer columnist Paul Daugherty as a special guest, while the Ignite Dance Team performed at halftime and the Peebles Athletic Boosters handled concessions.

Fundraising has long been central to the event. Past games have collected a $5 donation at the door, with proceeds benefiting local Special Olympics programs and People First of Adams County. FOX19 reported that in past years the event has raised thousands of dollars for adults with developmental disabilities.
Organizers are encouraging the community to attend and support the Hawks: "Come cheer on our friends with developmental disabilities of Adams County and promote full participation in the community."
West Union High School is located in West Union, Ohio. Additional details on the game, including any ancillary activities, can be obtained by contacting Venture Productions or the Adams County Sheriff's Office directly.
