Burlington police arrest two men, recover stolen gun, drugs on Center Avenue
A foot chase on Center Avenue ended with a stolen gun in one suspect’s waistband and drugs in another vehicle, police said.

Burlington police said a routine traffic-related check in the 600 block of Center Avenue turned into a street-level arrest involving a stolen firearm, illegal drugs and a short foot chase after officers spotted suspected narcotics activity while working to prevent violent crime.
Officers were in the area at about 7:47 p.m. on April 29, 2026, when they saw activity involving two separate vehicles. Police approached the first vehicle and said Torraz Jerquan Henry, 30, ran on foot. Officers caught Henry after a brief pursuit and said they found a stolen firearm in his waistband.
Henry was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer. He was held at the Alamance County Jail with no bond.

The second vehicle led to another arrest. Police said Cory Ledon Wilson, 32, was found with illegal drugs and taken into custody at the scene. Wilson was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling a controlled substance. He was held under a $50,000 secured bond.
The case stands out because it tied together several problems that local law enforcement has repeatedly linked to neighborhood violence: drugs, a stolen gun and an armed suspect on the move. A Burlington Police Department-related Crime Stoppers post says drug dealing is frequently the cause of violent crime, particularly armed robberies and shootings, a public-safety risk officers were trying to confront on Center Avenue.

Police said people with information about drug dealing or illegal firearms in Burlington should contact the department. Alamance County Crime Stoppers says tips can be submitted anonymously, including through the P3 Tips mobile app, and may be eligible for rewards of up to $2,500. The Burlington Police Department also says it has a community police advisory team that meets monthly and that non-emergency crimes can be reported online.
