Family Promise, Laramie Interfaith combine efforts to expand support services

Family Promise of Albany County has become a program of Laramie Interfaith, bringing housing help, pantry services and utility assistance under one Albany County umbrella for families facing instability. The change is meant to strengthen and streamline services for individuals and families in Laramie and across the county.

Laramie Interfaith is Albany County’s safety net and the county’s hub for pantry services, housing and utility assistance, case management and essential supplies for families. Family Promise of Albany County focuses on families with children experiencing homelessness and its mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

A First Interstate grant-related post lists Albany County as having the highest food insecurity rate in Wyoming, and more than 6,000 residents lack access to nutritious food. For households trying to keep up with rent, utilities and groceries at the same time, the organizations’ shared model is meant to create a more direct path to help.

Families seeking assistance can go to Family Promise of Albany County’s main office at 215 South 11th Street in Laramie, where weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Laramie Interfaith and Family Promise also previously opened a separate office dedicated to housing assistance for residents hit by the financial impacts of Covid-19, adding another local access point for people dealing with short-term crises.
