Family Promise of Albany County Merges Programs Into Laramie Interfaith to Expand Services
Family Promise of Albany County's programs are folding into Laramie Interfaith, where they'll continue as the "Family Promise Program" to streamline services for homeless families.

Two Laramie nonprofits announced a formal transition last week in which Family Promise of Albany County's programs and services will be integrated into Laramie Interfaith, operating going forward under the name "Family Promise Program." The organizations say the change is intended to streamline services for homeless and low-income families across Albany County.
Family Promise of Albany County is a local affiliate of a national organization that has been serving families experiencing homelessness, or threat of homelessness, since 1986. Its mission, as stated on the organization's page, is "to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response." That work spans shelter, financial assistance, professional support services, and a diaper and hygiene program offered to the entire Laramie community.
The programs being folded into Laramie Interfaith cover a range of needs. The "Keep Families Together" program provides shelter for all family members without requiring them to split up, a commitment that distinguishes it from many emergency shelter models. Through "Meeting Personal Needs," the organization provides temporary shelter, rent and utility assistance, diapers, and hygiene products. The "Safety and Security" component focuses on creating an environment where families can rebuild self-esteem and progress toward self-sufficiency, while "Professional Services" delivers case management, goal setting, accountability, life skills training, parenting support, and budgeting assistance.

Under the integrated structure, those programs will now carry Laramie Interfaith's organizational umbrella while retaining the Family Promise name and approach. The announcement did not include details on whether Family Promise of Albany County will continue as a separate legal entity or fully dissolve into Laramie Interfaith.
Several key operational questions remain unanswered, including the timeline for full integration, how funding streams and donors will be affected, and whether current staff and volunteers will transfer to Laramie Interfaith. Sam Fonda, who serves as Volunteer Coordinator for Family Promise of Albany County, can be reached at volunteers@fpalbanycounty.org or (307) 742-6480. Two ongoing volunteer opportunities, a Diaper, Food, and Hygiene Drive and a Diaper Pantry Assistant role, remain listed as active through the organization.
