Starting at the Laramie Recreation Center on April 18, the City of Laramie will launch its 2026 Community Clean-Up Days with food trucks, free volunteer supplies and kids' activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers who register at the kickoff event walk away with a free t-shirt and trash bags. Food trucks are scheduled to remain on-site past the 1 p.m. formal close, and community organizations will be tabling throughout the morning.

The city has set April 18 through May 4 as this year's cleanup window. Organizers have framed the effort around four priorities: public safety, neighborhood pride, wildlife habitat protection and stormwater quality, all of which can degrade when winter debris sits uncollected through spring.

For most debris, standard trash bags will do the job. For larger items or hazardous materials, the city schedules specialized collection rather than expecting volunteers to haul those loads themselves. Anyone with a truck, trailer or heavy gloves should note that capacity on the registration form at volunteer.cityoflaramie.org so staff can match assignments and coordinate municipal crew pickups accordingly. All volunteers are asked to dress for Wyoming's variable spring weather, wear gloves and closed-toe shoes, and follow group leader guidance on safe handling.

Individuals, families, civic groups, student organizations and businesses are all encouraged to take part. The city has positioned the cleanup as a cross-sector effort, suited for neighborhood associations and service clubs as much as individual residents.

This year, sustained hours carry a named reward. Individuals who log 100 volunteer hours before July 1 and groups that reach 250 hours will be recognized during the opening ceremonies of Laramie's "Freedom Has a Birthday" celebration, the city's contribution to America's 250th birthday observances.

Full registration and logistics are available at volunteer.cityoflaramie.org.
