Sheridan routs Laramie Plainsmen 82-55 in Feb. 14 game for conference seeding
Johnny Spielman scored a game-high 21 as No. 1 Sheridan surged past Laramie 82-55 at Laramie High, extending the Broncs' in-state winning streak to 15 games.

Johnny Spielman poured in a game-high 21 points as No. 1-ranked Sheridan overwhelmed the Plainsmen 82-55 in the Competition Gym at Laramie High, a result that factored directly into conference positioning and playoff seeding on Feb. 14, 2026.
The win pushed Sheridan to 17-1 overall and 10-0 in the Class 4A East Conference, marking the Broncs’ 15th consecutive victory and keeping them unbeaten against in-state opponents; Sheridan’s only loss this season remains a 61-44 defeat to Arvada West (Colorado) on Dec. 13. Laramie fell to 7-13 overall and 2-7 in conference play after the loss.
Laramie opened the game with a 5-0 lead, but the No. 1-ranked Broncs “conquered an early deficit and rolled Laramie, 82-55, at Laramie High.” The Plainsmen scored three points more than its average and trumped Sheridan’s average points allowed (43.1 points per game), but the scoreboard widened as Sheridan asserted control through the middle portions of the contest. Laramie senior Braxton Bleak acknowledged the gap in talent: “Sheridan is obviously probably the best team in the state, so getting that many points up, it means something.”
Sheridan’s other top contributors included Brayden Brutlag with 14 points and Beck Haswell with 10 points; Haswell is a University of Wyoming football signee, and the news item about his commitment ran with the line “CHEYENNE, The dream was always there, somewhere in the back of his mind.” For Laramie, Blase Goetz led the Plainsmen with 15 points and Jackson Murray added 10.

Laramie coach Drew Evans praised his team’s effort while acknowledging the opponent’s quality: “I challenged (our team) to be a little bit more disruptive and kind of match the physicality,” Evans said. “I thought we really did that. I don’t think that the scoreboard indicated how close of a game it was. I was really proud of the way we battled. I mean, that Sheridan team is really good.” Bleak also framed the loss as a measuring stick: “We are on the right track. We played good defense for the most part. Toward the end of the game it blew up, but I think this game just helped us realize we are on the right track.” He added that his squad sought to answer Sheridan’s physicality: “We wanted to prove we can play with teams like that, and so physicality was a big thing,” and “We wanted to kind of punch them in the face and make sure that we could find some blows, too.”
The matchup was flagged on local scoreboards and streaming services and was available live and on demand via NFHSNetwork under the listing “Laramie vs Sheridan - Boys Varsity Basketball 02/14/2026 | Live & On Demand,” published by Laramie High School and produced by WHSAA: Laramie High School, Laramie, WY - Competition Gym; the NFHSNetwork timestamp for the listing reads Feb 14, 2026 | 8:00 PM UTC and the page included “Full Game Highlights” and subscription prompts for watching full games.
With the Broncs cementing their top-seed posture in Class 4A East, Laramie drops its third straight game and seventh loss in eight outings as the Plainsmen head into the final stretch of the regular season seeking wins that will influence postseason seeding.
