Wyoming sheep producers have two free opportunities this month to sharpen their lambing-season skills, as the University of Wyoming Extension Sheep Task Force hosts a two-part webinar series on March 17 and March 26, both running from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Zoom.

The first session, scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, focuses on colostrum and orphan lamb management, covering strategies for mitigating ewe and lamb stress from late gestation through docking. The second webinar, on Thursday, March 26, shifts to the metabolic stress of ewes through late gestation and early lactation. Each session runs 90 minutes and will be led by members of the UW Extension Sheep Task Force alongside guests from the sheep industry.

"Lambing is the first opportunity to have a positive impact on the success of the lamb crop, which makes proper preparation super important and beneficial," said Jedidiah Hewlett, Converse County extension educator.

The Sheep Task Force describes its mission as supporting Wyoming's sheep producers facing current industry challenges through evidence-based research and on-the-ground implementation. Both webinars are free to attend, and registrants will receive a Zoom link by email after signing up at bit.ly/uwyo-sheep-26.

Producers who cannot attend live can access recordings of both sessions on the University of Wyoming Extension's YouTube page after the events conclude. For additional information, contact Hewlett at jhewlett@uwyo.edu or (307) 358-2417.
