WHSAA Regionals Feb. 20-21 Set State Fields as Laramie Wrestlers Chase Berths

At the Campbell County Recreation Center in Gillette, Thunder Basin kicked off the 4A East regional with mat action scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 20 as Laramie joined Campbell County, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne South, Sheridan and Thunder Basin chasing state berths. Wyopreps lists the 4A East finals as expected around 4 p.m., with the regional designated by WHSAA as a one-day meet (2/20 only).

The Wyoming High School Activities Association is hosting eight regional events Feb. 20-21 that will send top performers to the 2026 Wyoming State Wrestling Championships Feb. 26-28 in Casper. WHSAA’s regional roster names one-day hosts and two-day sites: 2A East - Wright (2/20 only), 2A West - Rocky Mountain (2/20 only), 3A East - Glenrock (2/20 only), 3A West - Cody (2/20 only), 4A East Boys - Thunder Basin (2/20 only), 4A East Girls - Douglas (2/20-21), 4A West Boys - Riverton (2/20 only), and 4A West Girls - Powell (2/20-21).

Local and regional schedules in Wyopreps provide site-specific start times and team lists. Wyopreps lists 2A West at Rocky Mountain in Cowley beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a championship round around 6 p.m., 3A East at Glenrock starting at 10:30 a.m. with finals about 5 p.m., and 3A West at Cody starting at 10 a.m. with finals about 5 p.m. Riverton’s 4A West site is listed to start at 10 a.m. with championship and consolation finals about 5 p.m.

Girls regionals include expansive fields and a bracket progression that Flowrestling spells out: “Wrestling will continue to the Championship Semifinals and Consolation Quarterfinals for all brackets. That will leave eight wrestlers in each weight class.” Wyopreps’ Girls East at Douglas roster names Buffalo, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Douglas, Glenrock, H.E.M., Hulett, Laramie, Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Southeast, Lusk, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Rawlins, Saratoga, Sheridan, Sundance, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington, Upton, Wheatland and Wright on the entry list.

Flowrestling notes the Wyoming postseason schedule in national context: “Wyoming, however, will be among the last to wrap up, and this week is all about regional action and setting the stage for the exciting finale.” Flowrestling also notes live coverage: “Even if you haven’t been following what has happened this season, or you don’t want to travel to the Cowboy State in the middle of the winter, you can enjoy almost every moment of the postseason live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.”

Practical details for fans and coaches: Wyopreps reports the all-session pass cost set by WHSAA at $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for students. WHSAA directs teams to post tournament results on TrackWrestling and asks that schools “Please E-Mail Scott McCash your results to be posted on the Wrestling Scoreboard.” WHSAA also lists weight-management permits, the wrestling weight management program, the communicable skin disease/physician statement form and NFHS concussion guidelines for coaches and athletic trainers to follow.

One scheduling discrepancy appears in calendar feeds: Wyowrestling lists a 4A East regional in Jackson, but WHSAA and Wyopreps both identify Thunder Basin in Gillette (Campbell County Recreation Center) as the 4A East host. WHSAA’s host list and Wyopreps venue details are being treated as the authoritative schedule for teams and fans.
