Allendale Community Gathers Weekly for Thursday Night Line Dance Classes
Free Thursday line dance classes at Allendale's National Guard Armory draw adults 18 and up, sponsored by the county's Office on Aging.

Every Thursday evening, the Allendale National Guard Armory at 368 Court House Square fills with movement and music as the Allendale Line Dance class runs from 6 to 7 p.m. The free sessions are open to anyone 18 and older, sponsored by the Allendale County Office on Aging, and led by instructor Angela Doe Youmans.
The classes are billed as exercise and fitness sessions, positioning line dancing not just as recreation but as a structured, low-barrier path to physical activity for Allendale County adults. The Allendale National Guard Armory, a familiar civic landmark on Court House Square, provides the space at no cost to participants.
The program reflects a broader pattern of community-anchored wellness efforts in the region. The People Sentinel's community calendar also lists senior dance lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Blackville Community Center, aimed at Barnwell County seniors 60 and older, reachable at 803-259-4592. The Allendale class, by contrast, draws from a wider age range, welcoming any adult who walks through the armory doors.
For a county that has long faced challenges in healthcare access and community programming, a free, recurring fitness class run by a named local instructor carries real practical weight. No registration is required based on the listing, and no cost stands between a resident and an hour of structured movement each week.
The class continues every Thursday. The Allendale National Guard Armory is located at 368 Court House Square in Allendale.
