SRNS donates $50,000 to five CSRA charities, $10,000 each
SRNS gave $50,000 to five CSRA charities, $10,000 each, supporting food security, housing stability and family services that serve Allendale County and neighboring communities.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions donated $50,000 to five Central Savannah River Area charities, giving $10,000 to each organization to bolster local services that address food insecurity, housing stability, family support and other critical human needs. The recipients named by SRNS and nonprofit partners include Christ Central Ministries Inc., Barnwell Community Soup Kitchen, The Bridge Ministry of the CSRA, Augusta Dream Center and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Center.
Jeff Griffin, president and CEO of SRNS, framed the awards as part of a broader corporate commitment to community well-being. Griffin said, “These organizations are doing meaningful work that directly improves quality of life across our communities,” and added, “Supporting them reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in the people and places where our employees live and work.” Griffin also emphasized longer-term engagement, saying, “SRNS continues to prioritize community investment as part of its broader mission, partnering with local organizations that strengthen our neighboring communities,” and “Through strategic giving and employee engagement, SRNS remains dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact across the region.”
Local service providers described the practical significance of the grant. Hallie Kohan, assistant director of Augusta Dream Center, said, “We are incredibly grateful for the partnership and support from SRNS. Their investment allowed us to serve families during the most critical time of the year while continuing our day-to-day programs without interruption. Because of this support, thousands of individuals experienced hope, dignity and tangible care when they needed it most.” Augusta Dream Center operates programs that reach families across the CSRA; similar frontline organizations named by SRNS provide pantry services, shelter support and casework that also touch Allendale County residents.
The donation continues a pattern of targeted seasonal giving by SRNS. SRNS made a comparable $50,000 distribution in 2023 to five different local nonprofits, including Area Churches Together Serving, Axis 1 Center of Barnwell, Community Ministry of North Augusta, Augusta Meals on Wheels and When Help Can’t Wait of Columbia County. In 2023, Jackie Harris, CSRA Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging director, said, “This generous donation from SRNS will help Augusta Meals on Wheels provide 1,250 meals to those who are homebound.” That same year, SRNS leadership noted the importance of supporting neighbors during the holidays: “It’s our privilege to support these local charities during the holiday season,” said Dennis Carr, then president and CEO of SRNS.
For Allendale County, the grants reinforce a regional safety net that public health research links to better nutritional status, reduced housing instability and improved outcomes for children and older adults. Small nonprofits that deliver meals, run food pantries or stabilize housing often operate on tight budgets; unrestricted operating dollars or targeted grants of $10,000 can preserve staff capacity and service continuity. Residents seeking to learn how local partners will deploy this year’s awards should contact the listed charities directly for program-level details and timelines.
SRNS’s repeated five-organization model signals predictable, if modest, corporate support for the CSRA’s social-service infrastructure. For readers in Allendale County, the immediate takeaway is increased capacity at neighborhood providers; what comes next will depend on how each charity translates the $10,000 award into meals served, shelter nights preserved or family supports delivered.
