Eagar Town Hall opened its doors Tuesday evening for a public information session featuring WoodSyn, LLC, an Arizona-based company that converts small-diameter timber into engineered construction materials, with the two-hour window running from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

WoodSyn describes itself as "an emerging leader in sustainable construction materials based in Arizona," built around its OptimWall™ Panels and OptimWall™ Building System. The system utilizes wood wool cement technology and "transforms small-diameter trees, a ladder fuel for wildfires, into a carbon-sequestering construction material while reducing the cost and time of construction." For a region in Apache County that has lived with catastrophic wildfire risk for decades, that pitch carries direct local weight.

The town's announcement, posted to its official Eagaraz social media account, made clear the session was not aimed solely at curious residents. "Builders, suppliers, and insurance companies are strongly encouraged to attend as this could have a great impact on those areas," the post read. Community Development Director Britney Reynolds was listed as the town's point of contact for the event, reachable at 928-333-4128 x. 221 or b.reynolds@eagaraz.gov.

WoodSyn's feedstock is small-diameter timber "that currently does not have value in North America," a description that maps closely onto the overstocked ponderosa pine forests that blanket the White Mountains surrounding Eagar. The company's stated mission is to "cultivate an ecosystem that nourishes its economic and environmental value through the transformation of low-value biomass into healthy living and working structures," creating what it calls a new industry in North America.

WoodSyn says it addresses "the critical issue of catastrophic forest fires while providing a solution for the pressing need for quality, attainable housing." Its prefab technology supports "very efficient and fast construction of single and two-story houses, schools, community and medical centers, and multi-story apartment buildings."

One note on the town's live feed merits attention. An update attached to the event listing states: "Due to installer staffing issues, this project will be postponed until further notice." The message does not specify which project it refers to, and the town's announcement of the March 25 session remained posted without cancellation. Anyone with questions about the status of a related installation or project can contact Reynolds directly at the number above.

The session was free and open to the public.
