Round Valley Elks Drop 19-13 Loss to Show Low in Saturday Tournament Game
Show Low pounded out 22 hits and committed zero errors to beat the Round Valley Elks 19-13 Saturday, sweeping the Eagar squad across back-to-back tournament games.

Show Low's Cougars erupted for nine runs in the second inning Saturday and never let Round Valley recover, handing the Elks a 19-13 tournament loss on March 21 that completed a two-day sweep of the Eagar squad.
The second inning defined the game. While Round Valley went scoreless through the first two frames, Show Low sent nine runs across the plate in the top of the second to seize control. The Elks answered with a five-run third and a seven-run fifth, generating genuine offensive life, but Show Low added four in the fifth, four in the sixth, and two in the seventh to close at 19. The final box score read Round Valley 0-0-5-0-7-1-0 for 13 runs on 14 hits; Show Low 0-9-0-0-4-4-2 for 19 runs on 22 hits.
The defensive disparity was stark. Round Valley committed four errors against a Show Low lineup that played the entire game error-free. The Cougars' 22-hit output paired with clean fielding made the Elks' own 14-hit afternoon insufficient to close the gap.
It was the second consecutive defeat for Round Valley at Show Low's hands. The night before, on March 20, the Cougars edged the Elks 6-4 in a seven-inning non-league contest, with Show Low scoring five of its six runs in the first two innings before Round Valley rallied for two in the fifth.
Heading into the weekend series, Show Low carried a 10-3 record. The Cougars' next scheduled opponent is Mogollon of Heber, a team that entered that matchup at 3-0 after defeating Alchesay of Whiteriver 13-5 in a non-league game.
