St. Johns Road Rehabilitation Project on US 180, US 191 Begins Monday
ADOT begins pavement rehabilitation on Cleveland Street (US 180) and Commercial Street (US 191) in St. Johns on Monday, with daily weekday delays expected through fall 2026.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement rehabilitation project along US 180, locally known as Cleveland Street, and US 191, locally known as Commercial Street, in the City of St. Johns. Daily weekday delays are expected beginning Monday, and motorists are advised to plan accordingly.
The 2-mile-long project is located between 24th West Street and the Little Colorado River overpass east of Water Street. The St. Johns Police Department posted notice of the construction on its CRIMEWATCH page, identifying the work corridor as Cleveland Street from US 180/24th West to Hwy 191.
The work will include removing and replacing the pavement along 2 miles of US 180 and a quarter mile of US 191, spanning milepost 367-369 and milepost 315, as well as installing new sidewalks, ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps, and curb and gutter. The purpose of the project is to replace worn pavement with new asphalt, creating a smooth driving surface for motorists. It will also enhance pedestrian safety through the installation of new sidewalks and ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps.
The St. Johns Police Department's CRIMEWATCH posting described the scope as "roadway pavement rehabilitation and other improvements" and noted that "the project is expected to last several months." Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and be completed by the fall.
Sources differ slightly on the official start date. The ADOT announcement references daily weekday delays beginning Monday, March 30, while the St. Johns Police Department CRIMEWATCH posting states the project begins April 1, 2026. Neither source explains the difference, and motorists traveling through St. Johns should prepare for disruptions on both Cleveland Street and Commercial Street regardless of which date marks the first day of active work.
