Atchison County sheriff’s office launches redesigned website with inmate roster

Atchison County residents checking the sheriff’s office website now find a redesigned page that puts inmate bookings, released inmates and booking photographs in one searchable roster. The sheriff’s office launched the new site on Sept. 15, 2025, and said the upgrade would give residents the latest information on office operations.

The inmate roster is built for practical use. One view sorts entries by release time in descending order, while another sorts names in ascending order, making it easier to locate a specific booking or scan who has moved through the county jail. Searchable roster views also show different counts at different moments, including 37 inmates on one current-booking page and 34 on another, underscoring that the listing changes as bookings and releases are processed.

A separate released-inmates roster displayed four names in the search results: William Schilb, Jessie Kiestler, Timothy Reed and Chad Starling. Each entry included a booking photograph, and the page functions as a live administrative record rather than a static archive. That matters for anyone tracking a jail status, because rosters can change quickly as people are booked, released, transferred or moved through the court process.

The sheriff’s office website ties the roster to a larger set of public-safety and public-record tools. Its navigation includes press releases, inmate communications, a public crime-tip submission page, a registered offenders page and a staff-member portal. The county website also includes a Kansas Open Records Act page and a request-a-record-and-fees page, placing the roster within the broader framework of records access that governs how public information is shared in Kansas.

The jail itself is listed at 518 Parallel St. in Atchison, KS 66002, and the directory gives the jail phone number as 913-804-6080. The site also links to Kansas Sheriffs’ Association resources, along with VINE and OffenderWatch notification tools, giving residents, victims and family members more than one way to monitor custody changes and offender alerts.

For families, the roster can confirm whether a person has been booked into the county jail. Attorneys and bondsmen can use it to track custody status, while residents and newsrooms can use it when following arrests, court cases and other law-enforcement activity. The roster’s main value is transparency, but its limits matter too: a booking photo and jail entry show custody status, not guilt.
