Autauga County families will start seeing one mascot story across Prattville campuses, with younger students rallying behind a lion and Prattville High School and Prattville Junior High School keeping the trademarked Power P logo.

Autauga County Schools is rolling out the “One Town. One Team.” initiative across Prattville Kindergarten School, Prattville Primary School, Prattville Elementary School, Prattville Intermediate School and Daniel Pratt Elementary School, while the two secondary schools keep their longtime Power P identity. Each elementary campus will use the same core cartoon lion design, with a different accessory to distinguish one school from another.

District leaders say the change is meant to be more than a logo swap. They want a single symbol that links students, staff, parents and alumni across every grade level in Prattville, while still preserving enough campus identity for each school to feel distinct. In a system where children move from kindergarten through multiple feeder schools before reaching high school, the district sees the rebrand as a way to make that path feel more connected.

The rollout is also designed with costs in mind. Autauga County Schools says the transition will happen gradually so schools can update visual elements at appropriate times and avoid a big one-time expense. That matters for signs, branding, merchandise and other school materials that typically have to be replaced in stages.

Superintendent Lyman Woodfin, who became the district’s top administrator after the July 11, 2023, board meeting, said the effort is about building community and helping every student feel connected to something larger than an individual campus. He also said the shared mascot can reduce expenses by letting schools share athletic materials and equipment. Athletic Director Blake Boren said the unified identity should remind students and families that everyone is part of the same team, whether they are on the field, in the classroom or around town.

The district says the new spirit wear will give families more value, since one set of clothing can be worn for years instead of being replaced every time a student moves up to a new school. The move comes as Autauga County Schools marks its role as the county’s only public school system since 1912, serving about 9,000 students across 14 sites. The new gym floor at Prattville Junior High School was unveiled as part of the announcement, a visual nod to the transition from “Cats” to Lions that now reaches across the whole Prattville school system.
