Millbrook police and fire rescue units rushed to the 4100 block of Highway 14 just after 5:41 a.m. Friday after a report of a single-vehicle crash found a 2006 Ford F-150 that had driven through Living Word Church, hit a truck trailer, and kept going into Hometown Small Motors.

Police identified the driver as Cedrick Langford, 54, of Millbrook. He was the lone occupant of the truck and was declared dead at the scene. Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said investigators believe Langford may have suffered some type of medical emergency before the truck left the roadway. The Millbrook Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is examining the vehicle and other evidence, and Langford’s body was turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsy.

Witness statements and scene evidence show the truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 14 before it crossed the Colonial Plaza parking lot and struck Living Word Church at 4102 Highway 14. After going through the building, the pickup exited the rear, struck a trailer, and continued into Hometown Small Motors at 4110 Highway 14 before coming to rest. The damage path left a church, a trailer and a nearby business all part of the crash scene before daylight.

The wreck landed on one of Millbrook’s most heavily traveled commercial corridors. The City of Millbrook describes Highway 14 as a key commercial route with strong traffic counts, and it remains a major east-west link for commuters moving between Millbrook, Prattville and the surrounding Elmore County area. With Colonial Plaza and other roadside businesses clustered along the highway, the crash underscored how quickly a single collision can ripple through the corridor’s churches, storefronts and morning traffic.

The deadly Friday crash also came less than seven months after another major Highway 14 wreck in Millbrook on Oct. 9, 2025, when a four-vehicle collision killed three people and injured two others. That earlier crash, combined with Friday’s fatal impact through Living Word Church and Hometown Small Motors, puts renewed attention on safety along a stretch of road that carries steady commuter, retail and church traffic every day.
