New Prattville Cafe Opens, Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Local Entrepreneurship
Ann’s Back in the Day Café held an official ribbon cutting in Prattville on December 18, bringing a new lunch and brunch option to South Memorial Drive and marking a milestone for a lifelong resident and hospitality veteran. The opening matters to residents because the cafe aims to serve daytime workers and weekend diners, support local hiring, and contribute to downtown foot traffic.

Ann’s Back in the Day Café hosted a ribbon cutting on December 18 at Ann’s Back in the Day Café, attended by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce and community members. Owner Ann Peagler Ross, who opened the cafe on December 1, addressed the crowd and framed the event as both a business launch and a personal milestone. “Okay, first of all I got to give God all the glory because without Him none of this would be possible,” she said, and later added, “I had to listen to God and God said to me this is your season.” The ceremony formalized what residents have already noticed, the arrival of a new midday dining option at 1534 South Memorial Drive.
Ross brings a long history in hospitality to the venture, with experience at the Capitol City Club, Wynlakes Golf and Country Club, and the Officers Club at Maxwell Air Force Base. The restaurant’s interior and menu reflect that background, offering an elevated meat and three dining experience aimed at office workers, shoppers, and families seeking weekday lunches or Sunday brunch. The cafe’s posted hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Sunday for brunch, which positions the business to capture the lunchtime market and weekend demand.
From an economic perspective, independent eateries like Ann’s Back in the Day Café play a direct role in local spending patterns and downtown vitality. A new lunch venue can increase daytime foot traffic for nearby retailers, create hourly positions for cooks and servers, and broaden choices for Prattville shoppers and workers. The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce’s participation underscores the business community’s interest in supporting small business growth and signaling a business friendly climate.

For the community, the cafe represents both culinary variety and an example of local entrepreneurship rooted in long term ties to the county. As the restaurant settles into regular service, its impact will be measurable in customer counts, repeat business, and any additional hiring. Residents looking to visit can find Ann’s Back in the Day Café at 1534 South Memorial Drive during the posted hours and assess firsthand how the new establishment fits into Prattville’s dining landscape.
