Prattville High begins search for girls basketball coach after DuBois resigns
Erica DuBois stepped down after six seasons, leaving Prattville with back-to-back Final Four trips and more than 100 wins to defend.

Prattville High School is starting its search for a new girls basketball coach after Erica DuBois resigned, a change that lands at a key point in the offseason for a program that has spent the last two winters among Alabama’s elite. DuBois will remain through May to help with the transition and assist in the search for her replacement.
The school announced Friday, May 1, that DuBois had stepped down after six seasons leading the Lady Lions. During that span, Prattville said she won more than 100 games and guided two teams to the Final Four, including back-to-back trips in 2024 and 2025. Prattville’s 2024 team finished 23-6 and lost 50-41 to Hewitt-Trussville in the Class 7A semifinals at BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham on Feb. 29, 2024.
The run under DuBois changed the standard for the program. Prattville made back-to-back Final Four appearances for the first time in school history in 2024, and records list the Lady Lions at 21-5 in 2023-24, 24-7 in 2024-25 and 21-6 in 2025-26. DuBois also was selected by the AHSAA as the Class 7A recipient of its Making a Difference award in 2025, recognition that reflected her impact beyond the win-loss column.

Athletic director Blake Boren praised DuBois’ impact on the school and the girls who played for her. He called her “an incredible person and leader of young women” and said she is “one of the finest coaches I have worked with in 17 years of athletics.” DuBois, a Prattville High graduate from the Class of 1999, returned to her alma mater after coaching at East Memorial Christian Academy and then serving as an assistant at Prattville before taking over the program in June 2020.
The resignation now puts the spotlight on what comes next for a program that has become a regular postseason threat in Class 7A. DuBois leaves with a résumé built on 100-plus wins, two Final Four trips and a 2024 South Regional title, and Prattville will spend the coming weeks trying to preserve that momentum as it looks for its next leader.
