Prattville High School Athletic Director Blake Boren took the job in 2024 and was struck immediately by how outdated the facilities were. On March 19, he stood inside a building he says has been transformed into one of the best athletic facilities in Alabama.

Autauga County Schools and Prattville High School marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. The short ceremony, scheduled for 10:30 a.m., drew Autauga County Board of Education members, Superintendent Lyman Woodfin, school administrators, and various elected officials to the Prattville campus.

Improvements to weight rooms, locker rooms, and laundry facilities were central to the renovation. For Boren, the contrast with what existed before is stark.

"Well, there is no comparison to what we had. I was telling someone the other day. I think when I walked in and took the job in 2024, I was really surprised with the state of the facilities. I don't know that much had been done in several years, and so now I think we've walked into a facility that's instantly one of the top 5 facilities in the state of Alabama," Boren said.

Boren described the upgraded field house as an elite facility and noted positive reactions from the broader community and past alumni, though he expects the most significant impact will come from student-athletes who train there going forward.

The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, which helped organize and set up the event, called it a grand opening on its social media channels. The facility is intended to inspire excellence in athletics and support student-athlete development, which district officials describe as a reflection of Autauga County Schools' commitment to its students and families.

Autauga County Schools operates 14 campuses across the county. Details on the renovation's total cost, funding sources, and construction timeline were not available as of the ribbon-cutting.
