Forty employers will bring more than 1,500 openings to the Old Prattville Kindergarten School in Prattville, giving job seekers a rare chance to meet hiring managers face to face instead of sorting through online applications. The Prattville Community Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at 423 South Northington Street, with a morning session reserved for high school seniors from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a public session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Alabama Department of Workforce says the event is built to connect residents with a wide cross-section of the local labor market, from health care and manufacturing to state agencies, retail, construction, utilities, banking, hospitality and corrections. Workforce Alabama, Prattville City Council members Marcus Jackson and Thea Langley, the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Autauga County Technology Center are co-hosting the fair, underscoring how much local pressure there is to keep talent in Autauga County and fill jobs close to home.

The biggest openings on the state registration page point to where the strongest demand is. Baptist Health Central is listed with 999 positions, far more than any other employer on the roster. The Alabama Department of Corrections is advertising 100 openings, the Alabama Department of Revenue 50, Chick-fil-A 35, CyberTec 30, the Prattville YMCA 25, HnR Plumbing 20 and Hyundai Power Trans 20. Other employers on the list include Alabama Power, Prattville Fire Department, Prattville Police Department, Autauga County Board of Education, Alabama Department of Transportation and PNC Bank, along with local and regional names such as Viscofan, Kinedyne, Infinity Plast Automotive, BWS Technologies, Chappy’s Deli, Home Helpers, Premier Tech, Steri Corp, Guardian Credit Union, Stronghold Contracting, Alabama Department of Youth Services, Onin Staffing, Fras-le North America, Spire, Renaissance Hotel, ASK Telemarketing, US Army, Texas Roadhouse, United States Air Force Reserve, ThinkData Solutions and Central Alabama Community College.

The fair arrives as the labor market remains relatively tight. Alabama’s preliminary, seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.7% in February 2026, while the Montgomery metro area’s unemployment rate was 3.0% in January and 2.3% in December 2025, according to federal labor data. For Prattville and the wider Autauga County area, that means employers are still recruiting aggressively, and local workers have leverage to compare pay, schedules and career paths without leaving the community. Attendees are being told to bring several copies of a resume, dress professionally and be ready to talk with hiring representatives, a simple checklist that could matter most for seniors taking their first step into the workforce and adults looking for a better fit.
