Prattville Pickers Reserves Parking Spot for Veterans and First Responders
Prattville Pickers carved out a "Super Hero Parking Only" spot for veterans, active duty, police, and firefighters, a gesture the Fraternal Order of Police shared widely.

A reserved parking spot marked "SUPER HERO PARKING ONLY" at Prattville Pickers has drawn attention well beyond the business's lot, after the Fraternal Order of Police shared the gesture widely across social media. The sign designates the space for veterans, active duty personnel, police, and firefighters.
The move by the Prattville-based shop reflects a strain of civic appreciation that has resonated with law enforcement and military communities online. Posts about the sign circulated on both Instagram and Facebook, with the Fraternal Order of Police amplifying the message to a broader audience.
The timing coincides with a period of notable momentum for Prattville's commercial corridor. The City of Prattville has announced that Rural King, a third-generation, family-owned general retailer, will open a new store in 2026 at Prattville Plaza Shopping Center. The planned facility will span 80,000 square feet in the core of midtown directly on Main Street, bringing one of the more substantial retail footprints the Prattmont area has seen in recent years.

Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. welcomed the arrival. "I want to welcome Rural King, our newest third-generation, family-owned, and operated business, to the city of Prattville. This significant investment in the Prattmont area is greatly appreciated and will enhance the scenery with an updated building, parking lot, and improved curb appeal. As the newest Partner of Prattville, the additional tax revenue generated by this location will benefit the Autauga County Education System and the City of Prattville," Gillespie said.
Rural King's product lineup spans livestock, pet, and bird supplies alongside Carhartt workwear, Wrangler and Ariat clothing, Purina feed, Blackstone grills, Henry Rifles, Mobil automotive products, and Walnut Creek Foods. Seasonal shoppers will find heating and cooling items, outdoor patio décor, pools, and lawn mowers alongside farm equipment, agricultural parts, and sporting goods. The retailer has also committed to supporting local youth organizations including 4-H and FFA, as well as veterans and first responders, connecting its community orientation to the same values that prompted the Prattville Pickers parking sign to go viral in the first place.
