Baltimore Police Chase Ends with Loaded Gun Recovery, Teen and Adult Arrested

A vehicle linked to a possible robbery tore north through the 5700 block of Park Heights Avenue around 6:30 Saturday evening before crashing into the brick display outside Park Place Apartments, ending a brief but intense police chase with two men in custody and a loaded gun off the street.

Patrol officers were alerted to the northbound vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. Baltimore Police called in Foxtrot, the department's helicopter, to assist from above as the pursuit moved through the northwest Baltimore neighborhood. The chase ended near the intersection of Seven Mile Lane and Park Heights Avenue, where the vehicle plowed into the brick display at the entrance to the apartment complex.

Both occupants bailed from the wreck on foot. Officers ran them down shortly after, taking a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man into custody at the scene. A loaded gun was recovered following the crash, though police have not specified where exactly it was found or whether it was connected to the robbery that first drew officers' attention to the vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Both men were being processed Saturday night, with charges still pending as of Sunday morning. The investigation remains open and active, according to police.

The incident adds to a stretch of heightened law enforcement activity along Park Heights Avenue. Just three days earlier, on March 11, a hostage and shooting situation in the same neighborhood left an officer and a suspect wounded.
