Baltimore Police Investigate Double Shooting in Downtown Monday Night
Two people were shot in downtown Baltimore Monday night; police have released no details on victims or suspects in an area that has seen multiple shootings since fall 2025.

Two people were shot in downtown Baltimore Monday night, with police releasing no details on the victims' conditions or any suspects.
Baltimore City Police confirmed the shooting but have not disclosed the precise block, victim ages, or circumstances. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
Monday's incident follows a pattern of gun violence in the downtown corridor stretching back several months. On Nov. 21, 2025, a double shooting at the 400 block of West Saratoga Street killed a 23-year-old man and left an 18-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries. The Maryland Transit Administration issued a service alert at 9:34 p.m. that night and rerouted buses along Saratoga Street between Paca and Eutaw Streets until midnight, affecting the Downtown-Rogers Ave Station route and CityLink BLUE service to Johns Hopkins Bayview. Central District officers heard the shots while already on patrol in the area.
On Dec. 26, 2025, a separate double shooting struck the 1400 block of East Madison Street in the Gay Street neighborhood, where Central District homicide detectives found two men with multiple gunshot wounds. A 51-year-old man was later pronounced dead at an area hospital; a 57-year-old remained in critical but stable condition.

Citywide, Baltimore recorded 10 homicides through Feb. 4, 2026, compared to 12 at the same point in 2025, according to police department data. Non-fatal shootings edged up slightly, to 26 from 24 over the same window last year. Those figures arrive against a backdrop of sustained progress: in 2025, homicides fell nearly 31 percent and non-fatal shooting cases declined 24 percent compared to 2024, according to data from the mayor's office. Last year's homicide total was the lowest the city had recorded in nearly 50 years.
Police have not confirmed whether any road or transit closures were in effect Monday night. Anyone with information can call 410-396-2100 or submit an anonymous tip to Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
