Hopkins Women's Lacrosse Streak Ends, Falls to No. 3 Maryland 15-12
Lauren Lapointe's 10-point game powered No. 3 Maryland past Hopkins 15-12 at Homewood Field, snapping the Blue Jays' six-game winning streak.

Lauren Lapointe arrived at Homewood Field and left with seven goals and three assists, and that 10-point outburst powered No. 3 Maryland to a 15-12 victory over Johns Hopkins that snapped the Blue Jays' six-game winning streak.
The Terps, now 11-0 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Big Ten play, never trailed. Maryland opened with a 7-1 run in the first half that set the game's terms early, forcing Hopkins into a deficit the Blue Jays could narrow but never erase.
Ava Angello gave the Homewood Field crowd a moment before halftime: a behind-the-back goal that was part of her five-point afternoon, two goals and three assists. McKenzey Craig and Paige Willard each added three goals for Hopkins, which dropped to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
But Lapointe's production on the other end made individual Hopkins contributions feel insufficient. Her seven goals accounted for nearly half the Terps' total, and goalkeeper JJ Suriano backed her with 13 saves, denying any sustained Hopkins momentum through the middle frames.
The Blue Jays found late life. Hopkins strung together multiple quick goals in the closing minutes, pulling within three with a little more than a minute remaining and threatening a comeback that would have reframed the entire afternoon. The Terps held.
The loss tightens Hopkins' conference picture heading into the stretch run. With Maryland sitting unbeaten atop the Big Ten, the Blue Jays will need to string together wins in their remaining conference games to stay in contention for favorable NCAA tournament seeding. Thursday's result revealed both what Hopkins can do on offense and what it cannot yet sustain against an elite program that controlled the opening half as thoroughly as Maryland did at Homewood Field.
