A box truck struck and killed a 28-year-old man Thursday at East Fayette Street and North Collington Avenue; no charges have been filed against the driver.

A 28-year-old man was found unresponsive on the pavement at the intersection of East Fayette Street and North Collington Avenue Thursday morning after a box truck struck him, and he later died at a hospital, Baltimore Police said. Officers responded at 8:57 a.m. on March 12 to the unit block of North Collington Avenue in Southeast Baltimore, where medics transported the victim to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead there. His name had not been released as of Thursday.
The box truck remained on the roadway as Accident Investigation detectives documented the scene, according to police. The driver of the truck also stayed at the scene, police said. No charges or citations against the driver had been reported as of Thursday.
The death marks at least the second fatal pedestrian crash in Baltimore this year, according to Baltimore Police. In January, officers found Phillip Jones, 48, in the 1200 block of West North Avenue suffering multiple abrasions to his head and body after he was intentionally struck by a car. Jones died at a nearby hospital. Michael Akiel Manigo, 31, was arrested in connection with Jones' death.

Accident Investigation detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the North Collington Avenue crash, or who has video footage from the area around 8:57 a.m. on March 12, to call 410-396-2606.
