Fire crews knocked down a fire at a two-story rowhome at 719 West Lanvale Street after arriving to find smoke showing, city and local television reports said. WBFF identified the house as a two-alarm rowhome near Calhoun Street and Lanvale Street; the station reported no injuries and said one occupant has been displaced and is receiving assistance from Neighborhood Services.

The original incident report noted, in the department’s phrasing, that "smoke was showing; the fire has been knocked down," and Fox45’s overnight account described the scene as occurring Sunday night. Baltimore City Fire Department officials did not report any immediate injuries in the dispatch summaries cited by local media.

The West Lanvale corridor has seen multiple, separate fire incidents in recent coverage. WYPR and The Baltimore Banner reported a much larger blaze at 2205 W Lanvale Street, a multi-story mattress warehouse that WYPR headlined as a 7-alarm fire. Baltimore City Fire Department spokesperson John Marsh said Tuesday that "the fire is now contained to the original building" but warned there remained "deep-seated fire" in multiple locations as crews continued to chase hot spots. WYPR reported at least 50 firefighters remained at that warehouse scene and that the blaze displaced dozens of nearby residents and disrupted morning train commutes.

Separately, The Baltimore Banner reported a fatality tied to an outside fire on the 1000 block of West Lanvale Street in Harlem Park. Marsh told Banner reporters that firefighters found a "trash fire" on arrival, extinguished the blaze in the rear of the location, and then discovered a man who was dead; Baltimore Police described the death as suspicious. The Banner said the victim’s remains were taken to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and cause of death. Baltimore Police are asking anyone with relevant information to call 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

City officials have pointed to past incidents on Lanvale as a reminder of fire risks in high-density housing and shared-use corridors. A Baltimore City media release from 2017 about a 2-alarm high-rise fire at Lanvale Towers, 1300 E. Lanvale Street, said investigators determined the cause was "an improperly discarded cigarette material inside of the eighth floor trash shoot," and that the fire displaced more than 170 residents. Then-Chief Niles R. Ford said, "It was unfortunate that the residents of Lanvale Towers were without a place to stay," and added, "Fortunately, no one was injured and everyone was able to escape safely."

Baltimore City Fire Department and Baltimore Police have not linked the 719 West Lanvale rowhome fire to the warehouse blaze or the Harlem Park death; each address is being treated as a separate incident in agency statements and media coverage. Further details, including official incident numbers, damage estimates, and investigators’ findings, were not available in the initial reports.
