U.S. Marshals Join Manhunt for Ricardo Calix Mejia in Unprovoked Baltimore Stabbing
U.S. Marshals and Baltimore Police are searching for Ricardo Antonio Calix Mejia, 30, a 5'9" Hispanic male wanted in an unprovoked house party stabbing that "nearly resulted in murder."

Federal agents with the U.S. Marshals Service have joined Baltimore Police in the search for Ricardo Antonio Calix Mejia, 30, a 5'9" Hispanic male wanted on six criminal counts stemming from an unprovoked stabbing at a Baltimore house party that investigators say nearly resulted in murder. Authorities say Mejia has been on the run for the past three months and remains at large.
Mejia is wanted on six charges: first-degree attempted murder; second-degree attempted murder; first-degree assault; second-degree assault; reckless endangerment; and use of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. Those counts were listed in charging information provided to investigators.
Court documents cited by police include a witness statement that underscores the suddenness of the attack. "In court documents the witness said no words were exchanged between the two men prior to the stabbing," Maresca noted. Police characterize the incident as an "unprovoked" attack that "ultimately resulted in a stabbing" and have described the injury as one that "nearly resulted in murder."
Officers say they confirmed Mejia's identity after obtaining a photo from the Motor Vehicle Administration and have secured an arrest warrant. Investigators report Mejia has avoided capture for roughly three months, and Baltimore Police continue to coordinate with federal partners to locate him.
Addressing the public safety rationale for bringing in federal resources, Maresca said, "All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. During the course of this fugitive investigation, documentation revealed that this was an unprovoked attack that ultimately resulted in a stabbing. This could have been a very life-threatening wound and the concern here that there may be a chance of recidivism. We believe it is in the interest of public safety that we locate this fugitive and safely take him off the street."
Officials ask anyone with information to contact the U.S. Marshals Service tip line at 202-819-5058. The Marshals' involvement follows the agency's recent fugitive operations in other Baltimore cases, and federal task forces are being used to pursue suspects who leave the city.
For context on how U.S. Marshals fugitive operations have worked in the Baltimore region, a U.S. Marshals Service press release dated April 03, 2025, detailed the arrest of Unique Thorn, 26, in Massillon, Ohio, on a Baltimore murder warrant alleging a fatal shooting near the 700 block of East Preston Street on March 18, 2025. That release listed contact Josh Lowe, Deputy U.S. Marshal, Northern District of Ohio, at (216) 589-2771, and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force tip line at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833), with social updates from @USMSCleveland. That case is separate from the Mejia investigation and is cited only to illustrate task force work.
Baltimore Police have not released the exact date or block for the house party, the name or condition of the stabbing victim or victims, any warrant number, or Maresca's full name and title. Those details remain pending confirmation from police and federal officials as the manhunt continues.
