Bamberg County Chairwoman Michelle Martin rolled out a public-facing Strategic Plan Online Dashboard on February 2, giving residents, council members, and stakeholders a single web tool to monitor county government's progress across seven strategic categories without filing a formal records request.

The dashboard, published on the county's official website under News and Announcements, organizes performance indicators across Financial; Public Safety and Law Enforcement; Environmental Services and Public Works; Policies and Council; Economic Development; Community Development; and C-Fund Projects. The county committed to updating the tool regularly, positioning it as a live resource rather than a static annual report.

"We are excited to launch this new resource, which streamlines valuable information for our citizens," Martin said in the county's February 2 press release. "We encourage all Bamberg County residents to familiarize themselves with the dashboard and bookmark the link for easy access."

The practical reach of the tool is broad. Residents can check the status of road and capital projects, track indicators tied to county financial health, and follow economic development efforts without contacting county offices directly. Council members gain a shared data source for performance discussions and budget deliberations, a structure that can reduce the information gaps that often complicate accountability in rural government.

Small rural counties have historically struggled to give the public real-time visibility into long-term planning and project delivery. The dashboard format addresses that gap by centralizing capital project status, public-safety metrics, and financial data in one place. Transparency tools of this kind have also proven useful in grant applications and broader community engagement efforts, lending counties a documented record of progress when competing for outside funding.

The county has stated the dashboard will remain a regularly refreshed resource, with updates intended to reflect real-time progress as projects move through each category.
