Magdlene "Maggie" Fulton, who spent nearly a century weaving herself into the fabric of her church and community, died March 18, 2026, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Orangeburg. She was 92.

Born August 2, 1933, to Herbert Holman and Leitha (Pressley) Holman, Fulton was educated in the public schools of Holly Hill. She joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and never stopped serving it. By the time of her death, she held the title of Church Mother, the capstone of a lifetime of roles that included President of the Missionaries, Financial Church Secretary, Sunday School Secretary, President of the Usher Board, Church Sexton, and member of both the Senior Choir and the Gospel Ensemble.

Outside the church, Fulton built a working life that crossed county lines. She worked as a seamstress in Bowman, Holly Hill, and Orangeburg, and later served as both a private and public caregiver with the Orangeburg, Calhoun, Allendale, and Bamberg Senior Companions Program, known as OCAB, touching lives across the region she called home.

In 1957, she married Samuel G. Fulton. The union produced four children. Her husband and one daughter, Barbara Ann Bass, preceded her in death, as did her parents and 13 siblings, seven sisters and six brothers.

Friends from St. Matthews offered a public tribute through the Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home guestbook. "She was an amazing person," wrote Rev. Kim (Dianne), Whitney, Justin, and Skylar Robinson. "Her warmth was unforgettable. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She brought so much light to everyone she met."

Gregory and Cynthia King of Santee, listed as family, also posted a remembrance.

Visitation, funeral services, and interment will all be held at Union Hill Baptist Church and Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent through the Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home website at shulermarshallfuneralhome.com.
