Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court hosts Resource Day for treatment help

Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court opened its outdoor courtyard to the public for Resource Day, giving people a single place to connect with treatment help, work support and food assistance. The court held the event Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court outdoor courtyard.

The event brought in CARE Campus, Workforce Solutions and Roadrunner Food Bank, along with treatment court-related participants. That mix mattered because the fair was not just for people already inside the court system. With the event open to the public, it also gave Albuquerque and Bernalillo County residents a chance to walk in and see what local help exists before a crisis turns into another court date.

The court tied Resource Day to National Treatment Court Month in a May 29, 2025 news post, placing the fair inside a larger treatment-first approach already visible across metro court programs. Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court lists a Behavioral Health Resource Connection page, plus separate pages for Behavioral Health Court, DWI Recovery Court, Outreach Court, Specialty Courts and Community Veterans Court. Together, those programs show the court trying to connect legal supervision with behavioral health support rather than relying only on hearings and sanctions.

That approach also showed up in a February 14, 2025 request for proposals. The court sought substance use, treatment and case management services for participants in its DWI/Recovery Court and Urban Native American Healing to Wellness Program. It also asked for psychiatric services, medication-assisted treatment and intensive outpatient treatment for those participants, signaling that the court is looking for more than a one-day outreach event.

Community Veterans Court follows the same pattern. The court says the program addresses substance use and behavioral health disorders with the goal of returning veterans and service members to the community as healthy law-abiding individuals. In practice, that means the court is presenting itself not only as a place that processes cases, but as a gateway to services meant to keep people stable enough to stay out of repeat court involvement.

Resource Day made that strategy visible in one afternoon. The more important test is whether the connections made in the courtyard can lead to lasting access to care, treatment and support across Bernalillo County.
