Video shows deadly Albuquerque bus stop stabbing before homicide arrest

Security video captured the moments before a fatal stabbing at the ART bus stop near Central Ave. and Louisiana Boulevard, and Albuquerque police are investigating the killing as a homicide. Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Bernest Benjamin. He was seen on surveillance video boarding a bus near Central Ave. and Louisiana Boulevard before following the victim, according to the report. Benjamin was arrested after the deadly stabbing at the stop near Central and Louisiana on Dec. 16.

The location matters because Central and Louisiana sits on a major transit corridor in Albuquerque, where ART buses move heavy daily ridership through a dense stretch of the city. KOB reported that police charged the driver of an Albuquerque city bus with an open count of murder after a deadly stabbing near the bus, and that officers responded around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday before paramedics took the victim to a local hospital.
