Broward grand jury indicts Lauderhill man in deadly double stabbing

A Broward County grand jury has indicted Lauderhill resident Gregory DaSilva in a case that prosecutors say now reaches beyond a single bloody afternoon on Northwest 19th Street and into a separate death five days later. The indictment added a third first-degree murder count and attempted first-degree murder, deepening a prosecution that began after two men were killed and a third survived the June 30 stabbing attack in the 5300 block of Northwest 19th Street.

Lauderhill police said the first call came when an officer was flagged down by a man who reported that someone armed with a knife had tried to attack him. The violence that followed left Mesilien Pierre, 36, and Wilford White, 68, dead, while a third adult man survived. Investigators did not publicly identify the survivor. Police said the stabbings happened around 11:15 a.m., putting the crime in the middle of a residential stretch that quickly became the focus of detectives, patrol officers and neighbors trying to make sense of what happened.

The case widened on July 5, when a family member found Jeffrey Standifer dead at a nearby home in Lauderhill. Investigators later concluded the death was suspicious and connected it to the June 30 killings. One account identified the victim as Jeffery Bernard Standifer, born May 28, 1975, and said he died on July 5, 2026. That connection is what brought the case before the grand jury and turned the investigation into a multi-count homicide prosecution.

DaSilva, who was 26 in earlier reports, had first faced two counts of premeditated murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon before the grand jury action. Court records cited in later reporting said he had not entered a plea and remained in the Broward Main Jail without bond. Prosecutors have not publicly released a motive, and detectives were still processing evidence, conducting follow-up interviews and pursuing additional leads as the indictment moved the case into a courtroom fight over intent, identity and what linked the three deaths.
