Registration for volunteers at the Biltmore Championship Asheville opens Monday, April 6, at 9 a.m. ET on the tournament's official website, with organizers seeking more than 1,000 people across at least 32 committees to staff the Sept. 17-20 event at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Arden.

Roles span scoring, marshaling, guest services, course support, caddie services and player services. Volunteers receive a benefits package that includes behind-the-ropes access throughout tournament week, a perk organizers say sets the experience apart from standard spectator admission.

The tournament marks Asheville's first PGA TOUR stop since the Land of the Sky Open in 1942, when World Golf Hall of Famer Ben Hogan claimed his third consecutive title at that event. The Land of the Sky Open was first contested in the early 1920s and held official TOUR status from 1939 until Hogan's final win.

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, located just south of Asheville near the Asheville Regional Airport, features a Jack Nicklaus Signature course that stretches 7,167 yards at par 72. The layout winds through a valley between Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway, precisely the mountain scenery that Biltmore Estate and Explore Asheville have placed at the center of the tournament's identity.

The Biltmore Championship Asheville was announced in November 2025 under a four-year agreement linking the PGA TOUR, Biltmore Estate and Explore Asheville as co-title sponsors. It occupies a strategic slot on the FedExCup Fall schedule: one week before the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah outside Chicago, placing Asheville at the center of professional golf's calendar at a moment when players are fighting to retain Tour cards and secure exemptions for the following season. Coverage will air on Golf Channel, PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+, Sirius XM and the World Feed.

"We look forward to building a partnership that spotlights the strength and beauty of the area and its community," said Tyler Dennis, the PGA TOUR's chief competitions officer.

Biltmore Chief Marketing Officer Mark Hemphill framed the event in economic terms at the November announcement: "Bringing a world-class golf tournament to the mountains of North Carolina creates an opportunity to make a positive, enduring impact on our community and economy."

The tournament arrives roughly 18 months after Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage across Western North Carolina. Explore Asheville CEO Vic Isley and Buncombe County Commission Chair Amanda Edwards spotlighted the event at a January 12 partner gathering as a cornerstone of the region's tourism recovery strategy. Nonprofit organizations are expected to take on formal roles beginning in early summer, extending community involvement beyond individual volunteer sign-ups.
