Water Main Break Causes Low to No Pressure in Woodfin, Asheville Areas
A second leak stalled repairs after crews fixed an initial main line break on Merrimon Ave., pushing water restoration to between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

A main line break along Merrimon/Mills Place to Midland Drive knocked out water pressure for customers across Woodfin and Asheville on March 25, with the Woodfin Water District warning that all customers in both areas could be affected.
The district initially estimated crews would complete repairs by 9 p.m. That target slipped when a second problem emerged. According to a Woodfin Water District Facebook comment cited by WLOS reporter Ruby Annas, the original break was repaired as of 8:55 p.m., but a second leak surfaced further up the line. Crews shifted immediately to that location, and the district revised its restoration estimate to between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The Woodfin Water District's outage alert described the situation as "low to no water pressure as a result of a main line break," with the affected corridor running from Merrimon/Mills Place to Midland Drive. The alert noted that "all of Woodfin and Asheville area customers may be affected," suggesting the pressure loss extended beyond the immediate break site.

No cause for either the initial break or the subsequent leak has been identified in available information, and no boil-water advisory had been announced as of the latest update. The Woodfin Water District lists boil-water instructions as a resource on its website, though no advisory specific to this outage was issued in the materials available.
