Abbassi Surgical Associates opens McKinney office, adds Plano location

Abbassi Surgical Associates has put down two new roots in Collin County, opening in McKinney in April and adding a Plano office on May 22, a move that brings specialty surgical care closer to patients who would rather stay in the county than travel into Dallas.

The practice is led by Dr. Babak Abbassi, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery. That matters for families across McKinney and Plano because the clinic is offering a range of common surgical services locally, including hernia repair, gallbladder and biliary surgery, colon and small intestine surgery, foregut and reflux surgery, breast surgery, skin cancer and soft tissue surgery, and adrenal surgery.

In McKinney, the office is at 4510 Medical Center Drive, Suite 302, in a medical office building near US-75 and SH-121 and close to major hospitals. The Plano location is at 6130 West Parker Road, Suite 508. Abbassi Surgical Associates also added a Rockwall site as part of its North Texas expansion, with a listed address of 3142 Horizon Rd., Suite 202, Rockwall. The practice says it serves Rockwall, McKinney, Plano and surrounding North Texas communities.

The timing of the expansion fits a broader pattern in Collin County, where population growth has pushed demand for specialty care into suburban corridors rather than central Dallas. For patients facing elective procedures, outpatient consultations or follow-up visits, having a surgeon in McKinney or Plano can trim drive time, simplify scheduling and reduce the back-and-forth that often comes with post-op care. It also raises a practical question for local families: whether adding office capacity will ease referral bottlenecks and shorten waits for the procedures now available without leaving Collin County.

Abbassi Surgical Associates says office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the clinics are closed on weekends. The practice also says patients speak directly with Dr. Abbassi, which it describes as a core principle. Dr. Abbassi holds MD, MBA and MS degrees, and the company’s Texas filing dates to Dec. 3, 2025, making the expansion a relatively fast rollout from formation to multiple North Texas locations.
