Collin College Appoints Two New Campus Provosts Effective June 2026
A music professor who joined Collin College in 2012 will rise to lead the Plano campus as two new provosts take over June 1.

Collin College named Dr. Garry Evans as provost of its Plano Campus and Dr. Kyle Bellue as provost of its Wylie and Farmersville campuses on March 9, with both appointments taking effect June 1 following the retirements of the campuses' longtime leaders.
Evans moves into the provost role from his current position as associate provost of the Plano Campus, a post he reached after more than a decade of climbing through the college's ranks. He first arrived at Collin in 2012 as a professor of music and has held several campus leadership roles since. His academic credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Music from Tennessee Technological University.
"Collin College is a place where opportunity and rigor go hand in hand," Evans said. "I am honored to serve the Plano Campus and continue partnering with our faculty and staff to help students reach their goals."
Bellue steps up from his role as executive dean of the Farmersville Campus, where he previously served as associate dean for Academic Affairs. No direct statement from Bellue was available at publication.

Both appointments follow the announced retirements of Dr. Sherry Schumann, who has led the Plano Campus as provost, and Dr. Mary McRae, who has overseen the Wylie and Farmersville campuses. Schumann and McRae will conclude their service May 31, and Evans and Bellue will work alongside them through that transition to support continuity in campus leadership.
District President Dr. Neil Matkin framed the hires as central to the college's direction. "Strong campus leadership is essential to delivering an exceptional student experience," Matkin said. "Dr. Evans and Dr. Bellue bring proven experience, steady leadership, and a shared commitment to the college's student-first approach."
As provosts, Evans and Bellue will oversee academic and campus operations, support instructional quality, and advance student success initiatives across their respective locations. Collin College serves approximately 60,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates, including bachelor's programs in nursing, cybersecurity, construction management, clinical operations management, and software development.
