Collin College dedicated a classroom in the Law Enforcement Academy wing of its Public Safety Training Center in McKinney to the memory of Princeton Police Officer Nancy Dominguez, who was killed in an off-duty car crash on April 20, 2024, and announced the Officer Nancy Dominguez Memorial Scholarship during a Feb. 11, 2026 ceremony. Family members, friends, community leaders and law enforcement professionals attended the naming event at the college campus.

“I can’t think of a better way to keep her memory alive than to make something permanent that benefits the next generation of law enforcement students learning in this very building,” said Dr. Neil Matkin at the ceremony, as reported by Collin College. A prepared statement written by Officer Dominguez’s brother, Ivan Dominguez, was delivered by the Princeton Police Department: “Today we honor not a classroom, but a legacy. A legacy of courage, passion, and purpose. A legacy rooted in service and heart and commitment to something far greater than any individual. Nancy earned her criminal justice degree with pride and worked tirelessly to pursue justice … may every student who studies here, carry a piece of her legacy.”

An event speaker told attendees, “Officer Dominguez was a protector. She guarded with heart; she guarded with responsibility and courage and lived her life for service. She chose law enforcement because she believed in it. And now her legacy lives on not just in memory, but in purpose.” The college posted images of the dedication on its social channels; at the time of the LinkedIn capture Collin College’s page showed 92,948 followers and at least one photo carried the caption “Photo courtesy of Collin College.”

The memorial scholarship announced at the ceremony is named the Officer Nancy Dominguez Memorial Scholarship and was established by the Princeton Community Development Corporation (Princeton CDC) in partnership with the Collin College Foundation. Collin College’s LinkedIn post also cited collaboration with the Princeton Police Department and City of Princeton TX CDC on the scholarship. College and community representatives said the scholarship will support students pursuing careers in criminal justice and help carry forward Dominguez’s commitment to public safety.

Collin College serves approximately 60,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates along with several bachelor’s degree programs; the Public Safety Training Center in McKinney houses the Law Enforcement Academy where the dedicated classroom now stands. Officials at the ceremony did not announce dollar amounts, eligibility criteria or application timelines for the Officer Nancy Dominguez Memorial Scholarship, and those specifics have not been released publicly.

The classroom naming and scholarship formalize a local remembrance: Collin College and its partners framed the dedication as a way to link Nancy Dominguez’s service and sacrifice to the training of future criminal justice professionals in Collin County.
