The City of Frisco and Major League Soccer club FC Dallas announced on December 10 a multi week fan zone that will occupy Simpson Plaza in front of Frisco City Hall next summer. Branded the FC Dallas Soccer Celebration the activation is planned to run for approximately 39 days and will serve as Frisco’s central community fan experience for major matches. Organizers said the site will host live match viewings including games played while MLS pauses for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Planned features include watch party pods, large viewing screens, live music, interactive activations, local food and beverage vendors, retail specials and programming on every match day. Officials indicated that more details on schedules, entertainment lineups and hours will be released in the coming months on friscotexas.gov. The scale and duration of the activation make it a significant use of public space adjacent to City Hall and a likely focal point for downtown foot traffic.
The event carries several local implications. Economically the extended run of match day programming can provide recurring customers for restaurants retailers and food and beverage vendors and create temporary work opportunities for event staff and production crews. The city will need to coordinate traffic management security sanitation and public safety resources across a sustained stretch of days which will affect nearby businesses and residents. Accessibility and crowd management will be important to ensure the plaza remains usable for routine civic functions and for visitors with differing mobility needs.
From an institutional perspective the City Council and municipal departments will oversee permits and contracts related to the celebration. Residents interested in vendor opportunities or in how public resources will be allocated should watch for the city to publish operational plans contracts and staffing details. The announcement also offers a moment for civic engagement on issues of public space use downtown, city budgeting for events and how the benefits of such activations are distributed across local businesses and neighborhoods.
