Frisco Heritage Tops State as Seven FISD Teams Reach 5A/4A Playoffs
Frisco ISD announced on Feb. 18 that seven boys basketball programs reached the UIL Class 5A/4A playoffs, led by Frisco Heritage, the state’s No. 1 Class 5A team.

Frisco ISD announced on Feb. 18 that seven of its boys basketball programs qualified for the UIL Class 5A and Class 4A playoffs, led by Frisco Heritage, which enters the postseason as the state No. 1 in Class 5A. Dallas Morning News noted Heritage owns a 28-2 overall record and rode a 23-game winning streak into the playoffs, with senior guards Cameron Lomax and Bryson Howard combining for 52.2 points per game.
The initial-round matchups listed publicly were scheduled for Tuesday, February 18. Collin Times published the district’s slate: Heritage vs. Wakeland at 6:30 p.m. at Independence High School; Memorial vs. Lone Star at 7:00 p.m. at Lebanon Trail High School; Emerson vs. Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. at Garland Naaman Forest High School; Liberty vs. The Colony at 7:00 p.m. at Plano High School; and Panther Creek vs. Irving North Hills at 6:00 p.m. at Panther Creek High School.
Heritage’s season marks and personnel are prominent in statewide previews. The Dallas Morning News said, “They’ve helped Heritage to a 28–2 record and a No. 1 ranking in the state Class 5A poll. Entering the playoffs, the program has won 23 straight games and has a huge opportunity to secure a state title this season with Lomax averaging 26.2 points per contest and Howard averaging 23.” Dallas Morning News also chronicled Heritage’s run to the 2025 5A Division I state semifinals, where the team fell 77-71 to Birdville. Locally, Frisco Enterprise reported, “Heritage completed a 14-0 district season with a 92-52 win over Independence on Tuesday,” underscoring the Panthers’ dominance in district play.

Frisco ISD’s announcement carried a district send-off reproduced by Collin Times: “Good luck to all the FISD teams!” Collin Times also advised fans that tickets for the listed playoff games can be purchased through the Frisco ISD website or the respective hosting schools’ ticket platforms at the host sites named above.
A reporting discrepancy remains: the district release and Collin Times both state seven FISD teams qualified, but public schedule excerpts explicitly named only five Frisco ISD matchups (Heritage, Memorial, Emerson, Liberty, Panther Creek). The identities and game details for the two additional qualifying FISD boys programs were not listed in the available schedule excerpts; those missing entries require confirmation from the full Frisco ISD athletics release or the district’s athletic office to verify the complete field and any schedule updates.
