Frisco Triathlon Sunday Brings Lane Closures, Multi-Community Route Impacts
A 56-mile triathlon bike course wound through five North Texas communities Sunday, closing the right lane of southbound FM 423 from 5 a.m. through early afternoon.

A 56-mile triathlon bike course stretched across five North Texas communities Sunday, March 15, prompting lane closures and police-controlled intersections along a route that looped from Little Elm north through Pilot Point and Celina, swept south through Prosper, clipped a short stretch of Frisco, and returned to Little Elm.
The City of Frisco posted a traffic advisory on March 13 warning that the right lane of southbound FM 423 would close between University Drive (U.S. 380) and Panther Creek Parkway starting at 5 a.m. Sunday, more than four hours before the first cyclists were expected to reach Frisco at approximately 9:30 a.m. Riders continued through that segment until about 1:30 p.m. FM 423 remained open throughout, with cones separating southbound vehicle traffic from cyclists sharing the corridor.
The advisory noted that the course closed one lane on several major roadways beyond FM 423, though the complete list of affected streets was detailed in a separate map and closure document referenced by the city. The broader impacts extended well outside Frisco's boundaries, touching jurisdictions across the northwest corner of the region.
Police officers stationed at intersections along the course controlled crossings and permitted vehicles through only when gaps appeared in the stream of racers. The city's advisory was direct on one point: "Drivers should not turn across the racecourse at any location without a police officer present." Drivers whose routes crossed the course were advised to expect delays and encouraged to identify alternate roads before heading out.
The advisory directed anyone seeking the full racecourse layout to the event organizer's website and a downloadable PDF map available through the city's online advisory page.
