Plano Council Approves $155 Million Police Headquarters and Campus
On December 17, 2025, Plano City Council approved a $14.49 million contract with DLR Group to design a new public safety campus that includes a $155 million police headquarters and a new Fire Station 14. Voters backed the project in a May 2025 bond package, and the campus is intended to consolidate operations, upgrade a facility built in 1973, and address rising staffing and 911 call volume.

Plano moved forward on a major public safety investment when the City Council on December 17 approved a $14.49 million architectural and design contract with DLR Group for a new public safety campus. The campus will include a $155 million police headquarters that houses the 911 dispatch center, a central utility plant, a parking garage, and a replacement Fire Station 14 on a roughly 9 acre site at Park Boulevard and Alma Drive.
Design work is expected to take about 12 months, with additional design services continuing into construction. The project follows voter approval of a bond package in May 2025 that provided the funding authority for the campus. City officials described the work as a response to substantial growth in public safety staffing and an increase in call volume, and they plan the new headquarters to consolidate personnel currently dispersed among multiple buildings.
The police headquarters will replace the department facility built in 1973, bringing modern infrastructure for communications and operations to Plano. Consolidation of the police department and the 911 dispatch center on a single campus is intended to improve coordination during emergencies, streamline day to day operations, and accommodate future staffing needs. The inclusion of a central utility plant and a parking garage reflects planning for longer term resilience and operational efficiency.

For Collin County residents the project represents both immediate and long term implications. The bond approval means the community already committed to funding the project through the May 2025 vote, and construction activity at Park Boulevard and Alma Drive will bring traffic and noise during the build phase. In return residents can expect upgraded emergency response facilities that aim to reduce fragmentation of services and support growing demand for dispatch and policing.
Next steps include detailed design work led by DLR Group over the coming year and coordination between city departments on phasing construction to minimize disruption. As Plano grows, the new campus is positioned to be a central piece of the citys public safety infrastructure for decades to come.
