Gang Li, 49, was working at Sunshine Wellness Spa on West Spring Creek Parkway when Plano police detectives began fielding complaints that would lead to his arrest on a charge of attempted sexual assault. Detectives investigated complaints of unwanted sexual contact during massage visits at Sunshine Wellness Spa, 151 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Ste. 501B.

The investigation surfaced a licensing problem that deepened the case against Li. Police discovered that Li was not a licensed massage therapist until May 19, 2025. Authorities did not specify how long he had worked at the spa. Investigators began to determine whether Li's current license was valid, and in the process found evidence leading to his arrest on a charge of attempted sexual assault. Li's license is currently under investigation by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Li was arrested on July 30 following the investigation. Police booked him into the Collin County Jail, where he faces a felony count of sexual assault, records show. The charge is a second-degree felony, according to jail records. His bond was set at $250,000.

Li's foreign national status added a layer of federal involvement to the case. "He is a Chinese national and his consulate was notified upon arrest," said J.D. Minton, Plano police public information officer. Li also has an immigration detainer from the Department of Homeland Security. Court records confirm that officials contacted the Chinese consulate and provided Li with a Mandarin interpreter. Minton declined to offer additional details beyond those statements.

Plano's Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation and is urging anyone who may have been victimized to come forward. Anyone who visited Sunshine Wellness Spa and received a massage from Li prior to May 19, 2025, or experienced unwanted or unsolicited sexual contact, is asked to contact the department's Special Victims Unit tip line at (972) 941-2044.

The Sunshine Wellness Spa case is not the only active Plano investigation involving a spa employee. Plano police separately arrested 54-year-old Changren "Denny" Wang on a sexual assault charge in connection with an alleged incident during a massage at Clif's Foot Spa on West Park Blvd. A victim reported the assault to police, and detectives are seeking additional clients who visited the business before March 12. A tip line is available for potential additional victims in that case as well, though the specific number has not been publicly confirmed by Plano PD at this time.

Plano has previously pursued legal action against massage parlors accused of illicit activity, including a 2024 lawsuit against the Red Rose Spa alleging prostitution and other illegal conduct. Both the Li and Wang cases remain active investigations; all charges are allegations and both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
