Richardson ISD summer hub helps families plan services and school dates

Richardson ISD’s summer resources page is built for the kind of scramble many Collin County families know well: child care, meal planning, school calendars and enrollment all competing for attention at once. The district’s hub pulls those basics into one place, which matters for parents trying to keep up with summer learning, office hours and the first day of the 2026-27 school year.

What the summer hub gives families

RISD serves a large local system that includes four high schools, eight junior high or middle schools, one alternative school and 37 elementary schools, so the district’s central summer page is more than a convenience. Summer learning options are divided by grade

Elementary summer school is listed for current PK-K students from May 27 through June 18, 2026. It runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:05 p.m., costs nothing and is by invitation only. Registration for qualifying students ran from March 30 through April 21, 2026.

Junior high summer school is listed for current 6th and 7th grade students from May 28 through June 12, 2026. That program runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., is free and is also by invitation only. Registration for qualifying current 2025-26 6th and 7th grade students ran from March 31 through April 22, 2026, and the location is Lake Highlands Middle School.

High school summer school is listed for current 8th through 12th graders from May 29 through June 12, 2026. It runs Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., costs nothing and takes place at Richardson High School. The program also includes EOC testing dates on June 15, 16, 17 and 18, 2026.

Those details matter because they show how RISD separates early learning support, credit recovery and testing into different lanes instead of packaging summer under a single label.

Meals remain part of the summer safety net

The summer page also steers families toward food access, which can be a crucial help when school kitchens are closed and household schedules are stretched thin. RISD has promoted a 2026 Summer Meal Program with free meals for all children 18 years old and younger at various community sites across the district.

The district is also making its summer office schedule easy to track. RISD said its administrative offices and most schools were scheduled to close from Friday, June 16 through Friday, July 7, reopening Monday, July 10. Summer program sites continue on their published schedules, but parents trying to reach a building or office need to know that many routine offices are closed during that stretch.
