Wylie mayor, council incumbents file for May 2 election; deadline Feb. 13
All incumbents for Wylie's mayor and two council seats have filed for reelection as the candidate filing window remains open through Feb. 13, affecting who will appear on the May 2 ballot.

All incumbents in Wylie have filed to seek reelection for the municipal contest set for May 2, 2026, but the official filing window remains open through 5:00 p.m. Feb. 13, leaving room for challengers to join the ballot. Voters will choose a mayor and council members for Place 5 and Place 6 in the citywide election.
Mayor Matthew Porter has filed for another term; Porter was first elected mayor in November 2020. Incumbent council members Sid Hoover, who represents Place 5, and Gino Mulliqi, who holds Place 6, also have filed for reelection. Hoover and Mulliqi were each elected to their first terms in May 2023. Local reports describe Mulliqi as serving as mayor pro tem, but official rosters show conflicting information on who holds that role; readers and reporters should verify the current mayor pro tem status with the City Secretary before citing it as fact.
Candidate packets went on public release Jan. 2 and are available at the City Secretary’s Office, 300 Country Club Road, Building 100, Wylie, TX 75098. The first day to file for a place on the ballot was Jan. 14; the filing period follows the statutory window that begins on the 108th day prior to the election and closes on the 78th day prior at 5:00 p.m., which for this election yields the Jan. 14–Feb. 13 timeframe. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, qualified voters of the City of Wylie, and have resided in the city for at least 12 months before the filing deadline, per state statute and City of Wylie Charter Article V.
Residents who plan to run but encountered the recent city office closures can submit notarized documents by fax to 972-516-6024 or by emailing them to citysec@wylietexas.gov, or file in person when offices reopen. For election questions or to confirm filings and officeholder rosters, contact City Secretary Stephanie Storm at 972.516.6022 or stephanie.storm@wylietexas.gov.
Practical voting information: the last day to register to vote is April 2. Early voting runs April 20–28, with Election Day on Saturday, May 2. Because Wylie spans Collin, Dallas and Rockwall counties, polling locations and early voting hours will be set by the respective county election administrations and can vary by county; voters should confirm their county of residence and polling sites before voting. Voters may use additional early voting or Election Day locations if those sites operate under full contract services with Collin, Rockwall, or Dallas County election administrations.
This filing period matters for Wylie residents because it sets who will appear on ballots for city leadership that decides land use, local services and budget priorities. With the deadline approaching, potential candidates should secure and return packets promptly and residents should verify registration, monitor candidate filings, and watch for county-specific voting locations and hours as officials publish them.
