Copperas Cove, Harker Heights bands invited to national festival in Indiana

Copperas Cove High School and Harker Heights High School wind ensembles were invited to perform at the 2027 Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, a selection that puts two Coryell County programs among a national field of 65 ensembles from 16 states. The invitation is more than a trip announcement for families in Copperas Cove and Harker Heights: it is a direct marker of how far school music instruction in the area has advanced.

Music for All announced the ensembles on Aug. 4, and the festival is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, April 1-3, 2027, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event is presented by Yamaha and Sweetwater. Music for All describes the festival as a celebration of outstanding music-making by the nation’s finest ensembles, and its requirements page says the festival is non-competitive.

Ensemble applications for the 2027 festival opened March 1, 2026, and were due May 20, 2026, meaning Copperas Cove High School and Harker Heights High School were chosen from a national applicant pool months before the performance dates. The festival’s lineup of 65 invited groups spans middle school and high school ensembles, putting the two Texas bands in company with programs from 16 states.
