Copperas Cove Parks Offer Inclusive Christmas Events for Families
Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation and the Youth Advisory Council announced a slate of holiday activities that include a Letters to Santa mailbox, a Breakfast with Santa, and an Adaptive Cookies with Santa event. The programs aim to provide affordable, accessible seasonal programming for families and individuals with disabilities, and they matter to local residents who rely on community connection during the holidays.

On November 24, Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation and the Youth Advisory Council announced holiday events at the Copperas Cove Civic Center that run through mid December and peak on Saturday, December 13. The city is hosting a Santa mailbox at the Civic Center, located at 1206 W Avenue B, where residents can drop off letters Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through December 13. Participants are asked to include a return name and address if they want a reply from Santa.
The Civic Center will also host a Breakfast with Santa on December 13 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The family friendly event will include pancakes and sausage, arts and crafts, and opportunities to mail letters to Santa. Tickets are available at the Civic Center for seven dollars per person, and children three and under are free. That evening the center will hold an Adaptive Cookies with Santa event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets for the evening program are five dollars per person, and children three and under are free. The adaptive program is explicitly designed for families and individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, creating a quieter and more supportive environment.

Local public health and community wellbeing are part of the picture as seasonal gatherings resume. Accessible public programming like the adaptive event reduces barriers for people with disabilities, and affordable pricing helps lower income families participate in community traditions. Holiday events also provide social connection that supports mental health, particularly for parents, seniors, and caregivers who may experience isolation. Organizing activities at a central municipal venue increases convenience for many residents, though transportation and mobility remain practical concerns for some households.
These events reflect Copperas Cove efforts to combine recreation, inclusion, and affordability during a season when community ties matter most.
