Copperas Cove to host Texas small business summit July 23

Copperas Cove small business owners will get a one-day shot on July 23 to meet state, local and federal resource partners at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, with sessions built around financing, digital marketing and other practical business issues. For Coryell County entrepreneurs who need help turning a slow season into new sales or cleaning up licensing problems before they spread, the summit is being pitched as a working session, not just a ribbon-cutting.

The Governor’s Small Business Summit in Copperas Cove is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at 1206 W. Avenue B. A local event listing puts the cost at $20, which includes access to all sessions, lunch and headshots. The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce is urging local businesses, entrepreneurs and community partners to register and use the day to learn, connect and grow in town instead of driving to Austin or another larger market for similar help.

The state says the summit series is meant to help Texas small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs start, strengthen and grow businesses by connecting them with resource partners and by offering timely information on issues that affect day-to-day operations. That matters in Copperas Cove and nearby communities such as Gatesville because the governor’s small business office says it can help with permitting, licensing, regulatory compliance, resource referrals, webinars and events. Those are the kinds of problems that can delay a storefront opening, slow a contractor’s paperwork or force a home-based business to spend time untangling rules instead of booking customers.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced 15 host communities for the 2026 series on Jan. 15, and Copperas Cove is one of them. Other stops include Allen, Cuero, Mission, Tyler, Laredo, Pasadena, Graham, Midland, Pflugerville, Nacogdoches, Brewster County, Dalhart, El Campo and Midlothian, part of a statewide push aimed at a state that the governor’s office says is home to more than 3.5 million small businesses.

The keynote speaker is Vance Walker, billed as a 2X Ninja Warrior Champion, world Ninja League champion, personal coach and motivational speaker. His bio says he was born with cerebral palsy and identifies him as the first and only two-time champion of American Ninja Warrior. That kind of stage appeal may help draw a crowd, but the clearest value for Copperas Cove businesses will come from whether the financing, marketing and regulatory sessions produce contacts and next steps that owners can use after the lunch ends.
