Gas line strike in Copperas Cove triggers outages, evacuations

A gas line struck near Hill Street and N 17th Street in Copperas Cove cut power to more than 100 homes and forced some evacuations, turning a single utility hit into a neighborhood emergency. The City of Copperas Cove said it was advised Wednesday afternoon that a fiber optic company had struck the gas line in that area.

Crews from Atmos Energy were visible throughout the response, and the Copperas Cove Fire Department was notified as the situation unfolded.
