Bojangles to Replace Former Burger King at 3341 S. Delsea Drive
Bojangles is converting the former Burger King at 3341 S. Delsea Drive in Vineland into South Jersey’s first location, with crews working on the conversion and no opening date set.

Bojangles will move into 3341 S. Delsea Drive in Vineland, taking over a recently built Burger King and establishing the chain’s first restaurant in South Jersey. SNJ Today reported that the site will become "the first southern New Jersey Bojangles Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits restaurant" and that "There is no date set for the Vineland location to open, but crews are working on the conversion."
The location sits adjacent to Mavis Discount Tire and shares a parking lot access point, according to an on-site report from 42Freeway. That account also placed the site a short drive off Route 55, "literally a minute past the mall" when heading toward the Cumberland Mall, giving local residents a quick landmark to find the new restaurant.
Bojangles was founded in North Carolina in 1977 by Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas. SNJ Today noted the origin of the name came after Fulk heard the 1970 song "Mr. Bojangles" and that the chain now operates with "over 800 locations and 9,000 employees." The brand is best known for Cajun-seasoned fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits, and menu items often include dirty rice, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, seasoned fries, and coleslaw. NJ1015 and syndicated affiliates recommended the chain’s sweet tea, saying, "I would also recommend the sweet tea, which is also pretty impressive."
Local consumers should expect a menu similar to other national quick-service chicken brands; NJ1015 and affiliates described Bojangles as occupying a category like KFC and Popeyes. One local caveat reported by 42Freeway and repeated by other outlets is that the Vineland location "will not include Bojangles' famous bone-in chicken." That particular detail has not been confirmed by company representatives in the materials available so far.
For Vineland and Cumberland County, the conversion represents modest retail redevelopment on a high-traffic corridor. The reuse of a recent fast-food build reduces lead time compared with a ground-up project, which may accelerate the opening timeline, though no official date has been released. The move also tightens competition among area quick-service options and could bring new restaurant-level jobs; SNJ’s company figures suggest Bojangles operates at scale nationwide, but the franchisee has not disclosed local hiring plans.
Readers can expect updates as the conversion progresses and an opening date is announced. In the near term, the new Bojangles will add another dining option near Cumberland Mall and Route 55, and its arrival will be a closely watched example of South Jersey’s expanding quick-service market.
