Decatur County Memorial Hospital has added Belarmino T. Frogozo, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon with wound care and hyperbaric medicine experience, to its Wound Clinic team in Greensburg.

The hospital said Frogozo will see patients with complex and chronic wound concerns on the second floor of the main hospital at 720 N. Lincoln St. in Greensburg. Appointments can be scheduled at 812-222-HEAL, and DCMH said the addition is meant to expand access to advanced wound care for patients in Southeastern Indiana who might otherwise need to travel out of county for specialized treatment.

Frogozo brings decades of surgical and wound care experience, according to DCMH. The hospital said he is an Active Life Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and completed his medical education at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. His advanced training included a general surgery residency and a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at Harper-Grace Hospital, along with a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit.

DCMH said the Wound Clinic treats slow-healing wounds with personalized plans and therapies that can include skin grafts, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, compression therapy, infection treatment, medication management, nutritional guidance and wound cleaning or debridement. The clinic operates as an outpatient, hospital-based service that works with patients’ primary care physicians, a model that can help keep follow-up care coordinated for people managing diabetes, chronic ulcers or complications after surgery.

The hospital’s wound care team already includes Brian Albers, MD; Matthew DeWitt, DPM; Jennifer Fletcher, MD; Duncan Hamilton, DO; Lauren Karbowski, FNP-C; and V. Chowdry Pinnamaneni, MD, whom DCMH describes as a regional wound care and hyperbaric medicine expert. Taylor Gramman, DCMH’s operations manager, said the hospital is proud to welcome Frogozo and that his experience across multiple specialties fits the hospital’s mission to care for the community.

The hire also fits into a longer local story. DCMH was founded in 1922 and opened its doors on February 4, 1922, as a memorial to Decatur County residents who served and died in World War I. The original 16,000-square-foot hospital has grown through multiple expansions, but the main campus remains at 720 N. Lincoln St., where the 25-bed critical access hospital continues to serve Decatur County and surrounding areas.
